Default best way to change vtec engaging point

alright so i read alot about how people have the vtec to engage at 5200 rpms. right around there. but heres my problem, i used to have a b18 GSR in my ride until it blew, so for cost reason i put in a B18a with a B16 head. Built a pretty strong LS/VTEC.

My Hatch is running a Hondata computer, i believe might be the S100? (it just says "Hondata Socketed" on it.)

Heres the Annoying thing when we had the GSR in it we were obviously running it to much higher rpms. roughly 9500. (My brother works for Honda, built the car and has been building hondas for years, he lives in TN, i live in Michigan)

Back on track, now i will shift when running hard at about 7600rpms due the the ls block, but when i shift, i go back out of Vtec and have to wait to engage again (Pops back to about 5,000 rpms)

I want to be in VTEC when i am running hard through all gears, cause i just dont feel like it is a good thing for the motor to keep popping up out of vtec when shifting and waiting for it to engage again. plus i feel like i could gain more out of my power band instead of only using my vtec from 6000 thru 7600 rpms.

Any ideas?

Put it on a dyno, tune w/ no vtec, tune w/ vtec engaged, set engagement point where the two power bands cross.

Thats what i was thinking would be the best way, but unfortunately i live the the grand ole state of MICHIGAN, where nobody will do dyno tuning unless it is a freaking Grand Prix, or drag car, no respect for the Honda Lovers.

Should i just invest in a vtec controler?

a vtec controller wont get you the proper tuning that you need. but if a vtec controller is what you want go ahead. it will let you move it where ever you want. just remember tuning is 100% the best thing to do

Remember this also tossing the vtec engagement point around will more than likely cause you to loose power.

alright, thats the info i am looking for, i think i may have just found two places that i can get it tuned at around here (after 4 months of searching for a place.) cause i definitely dont want to lose power at all. so hopefully if i can get it tuned all my problems will be solved. The place i am looking at charges $175 for 5 runs on the dyno. but i may need to get the tuning software for the hondata computer to tune it properly. They will let anyone use the dyno for a price, but if they dont have the tuning software you have to be able to supply it?
