Adjusting secondaries?
after doing a little search i found out that supposedly the secondary intake runners open up at the same time VTEC engages. i was wondering if there would be any advantage to adjusting the VTEC engagement to 4400 rpms and the secondaries at like 5500-5800 rpms like on the GS-R motor?
by the way were talkin H22A1 here...

4400 is to low for the VTEC setting. 4600-4900 is where the best gains are generally found. and no, there is no way (as far as i know) to speed up the opening of the secondaries.
hondata will allow you to open secondaries at whatever you want.
you will get a big power suckout if you open vtec too soon. actually 5000 is about perfect with the secondaries coming in a bit before that.

the secondarys don't open up at the same time as vtec kicks in, the secondarys open up a couple hundred rpm sooner than vtec. i know joel had made a post, (satan_srv) but i don't remember what the numbers were. the only way to change when the secondarys open would be to get an rpm activated switch such as an msd one cut the original ecu control wire to the secondaries and put the rpm activated switch in its place. but you would have to spend alot of time on a dyno playing with the vtec settings and the secondaries

Doing this would be almost the same as running a P72 ecu except since it would be an actual P13 running you wouldn't run lean in the high end. This would most likely make you lose horsepower since you would have VTEC engaged too low and you would be choking the motor up until 5500-5800 rpms if thats where you would make your secondaries open up at. And like stated above, with Hondata you can adjust where your secondaries will operate.
