Default Best value engine for EF swap

I'm looking for the best overall value.

performance
driving experience
budget
etc.

I'm really undecided.

good question but all too common

your going to have to decide for yourself.
Everyone does not have your budget, hp goals, powerband desired, ect.

Most will say B16 for budget and everyone would love to get a k swap.

LS Swap with a b16 tranny is a good start. Or you can get an ls and keep the tranny and go boost later on. There aren't any gsr cable trannies with the ratios people think of with GSRs unless you swap the gearsets into a 92-93 cable transmission casing

b16 swaps are too common for budget ef's and an ls with a b16 tranny usually has the advantage

What does this mean? I have a stock 92-93 GSR YS1 transmission with ultra short gears, and they weren't swapped in, they're oem stock for that transmission.

The YS1 Cables trannies had real close ratios to the b16, if not identical. I'd check it right now but am about to head out but maybe the final drive is just a bit different? The B17 ys1 is preferred over b16 but still is very close

CHECK MY THREAD, It will answer your ?s. LS/VTEC with 92/93 YS1 tranny and yes the gears are shorter than the newer GSR tranny, Couple places you can find the info on web and the Final drive is 4.4
