I'm not looking to have t spen any more moeny on these damn guages as it is.......ugh. Whats the 2-pronged sensor under the intake manifold, it looks like it goes into the water jacket, could I tap it in there?

you should be able to tap into the factory water temp sender. its a single wire sensor.

Really, the factory sensor? I wouldn't think that the factory sender would work with an aftermarket gauge. My thought would be that the gauge calibration is different, but it would make things easier.

Don't use the factory wire - you don't know how well calibrated it is.

If you are using the mechanical sender, your best bet is probably going to be to put it inline with your upper radiator hose.
Heres what I did:
Go to Home Depot and get a 3/4" by 3/4" by3/4" brass tee.
The autometer gause is going to go into the middle connector.
Grind/polish the inside of the T out to improve water flow.
Grind the outside "lip" of the T down to make it easier to get the ends of the radiator hose over it.
Now cut the radiator hose in half about 4" from the radiator
Slip the ends of the hose over the ends of the T
Install the sender into the T using Honda-bond, teflon tape, etc. to seal it.
Use small hose clamps to hold the end of the hose onto the T
That's it - I hope that helps. -Phillip

Got a picture of that you can post? Sounds simple enough.

I founf a better spot, less visable too. I"m gonna tee into the coolant line for the throttle body. I bought a 3/4" T. I also bought 2 nipples to adapt either end to the 1/4" hose size. I can screw the Autometer equipment into the thrid hole in the T. It won't read the temp as quick as it would in the radiator hose, but it'll give me more line to work with
