Default Best machine shop to send your block to?

Who do you guys feel is the best shop for machining a B20 for Vtec (oil squirters and all)?

I'm more concerned with quality work than price (although I don't want to get bent over either). Please post any and all comments...flames welcomed and encouraged!

I am more than willing to ship so location is not an issue as long as it's in the U.S. The machine shops around here are all run by good-ole-boys that while probably do good work, have zero experience with Hondas.

Certainly somebody must have an opinion on this?

I have heard good things about RS MotorWorks and AEBS. Nothing from a personal experience.

Benson Machine in Santa Ana, CA. They are ok priced but a little slow. Only use them if you want it done perfect and time is not your first priority. Dan Benson does ALL the machine work now. He does Kubo, Stef, most of the big boys, etc. 714-241-1284 leave message and he will return call.

Golden Eagle does install it's own sleeves but all other machine work is sent out to a local shop. I assume the shop is ok.

Yes, they did a B18C sleeved, O-ringed block for me. I wanted to put it together myself and I had a few rookie problems. Dan Benson held my hand thru everything and made sure I had the right parts. The bearings he sold me had perfect oil clearance. The custom pistons I ordered thru him we dead nuts on spec. First time out with the car was at Pomona two weeks ago and I went to the second round on Sunday losing to Lisa Kubo. Ran a 10.56 and 10.60 on low boost and only 22" tall tires. When I told Benson how well we did, he was really excited even though he does all the work for Steph, Kubo etc.
BTW, Benson does not do head work. He recommends BCE. If you want him to assemble the short block, I believe he charges $300. For all the work I did in the assembly of the block, $300 would have been a bargain.
