Darton the other other performance sleeve
I can say that I could not be more impressed with the service that my shop Fuzion will now be offering for Darton sleeved blocks. My personal block shown below was the guinee pig....first of its kind to go under the knife of a CNC machine to have the work done....and finally done properly. As many people know, sleeves are prone to shifting or dropping, but with this process it is literally impossible since the tolerances are right on the money.
In the short future we will be on Dartons website as a contact for the sleeving services....be on the lookout for that. Best thing of all will be the price, cheaper than most other in the country--unfortunately we havent ironed out the final pricing so be patient. Still will be slightly higher than the other known/bandwagon company, but IMO this product is superior.
Anyways, heres the nitty
We are also offering performance headwork and great prices. Our guy that does the heads is the man who does one of the national Hot Rod class 8-9 sec. racecars and also 2 6 sec Pro Class raceteams cars headwork. This is unofficial just cause his shop isnt on the side of these cars and also if you were to call these race teams they wouldnt disclose the person who does their work.....so natuarally I can not mention the names of the above teams/shops.
This is my LS head. Street port and polish, 1mm over intake and exhaust for the Ferrea's, and a 4 angle valve job, and had some work done in the bowl.

Re: Darton the other other performance sleeve (paul_vang)
I have a question and wondering if anyone can give me a little insight. Im thinking about sleeving also but dont think i want to send my block out to GE. Can you order sleeves from darton and have a shop install the sleeves? My goal right now is to boost about 1 to about 1.5 bar so will stock sleeves be ok?
Sorry if this has been brought up, im just looking for some direction.

Re: Darton the other other performance sleeve (eviltwin)
Mine are bigger than yours are! Nice looking install Dan, only on thing to worry about would be your choice of camshaft with those 1mm over-sized valves. YOu clearances between piston and valve will be reduced, as well as intake to exhuast valve clearance........Man thats an expensive valve train, would hate to see it get crunched!.......I'm in the middle of replacing 4 more valves, so i'm ranting.

These sleeves will handle everything you can throw at em'
Pricing will be up soon for them. I might be setting up a group buy sometime after the new year----since no one has money this time of year.

these sleeves arent all they have crcked up to be. a better sleeve is made by AEBS they are tested and proven to withstand up to 55psi of boost. although the darton sleeves arent bad. they tend to shift even though u all dont think they do. the way they are made and installed into the block with teh step cut they will tend to move. the aebs sleeves on the other hand dont thet are not installed in the block on a step cut.. i would strongly recommend the AEBS sleeves over the darton sleeves anyday

You can purchase the Dartons through us. Your machine shop can do the service, but I would recommend having us do it unless your shop has had experience with them before.

Hey Boosted TypeR,
You seem to know, how about a drawing or a good description of how AEBS, Darton and GE prepares the blocks for the new sleeves? Comparison of sealants, machining and press technique?
Regards,
BigMoose

torn between a full Dart block, darton, GE, and maybe aebs...hmm - seems like they all claim to be quite strong...not worried about that...I just want them to KEEP WORKING ! ahah

Have you any personal experience with Darton, hell even AEBS?? Probably not. AEBS are nice, but I dont believe they are AEBS products---just AEBS branded Darton sleeves. In order for someone to manufacture these things it would take a million + dollar facility to produce them.

It would be nice to be walked thru the install process. Still don't quite understand how a sleeve can drop after it has been installed butted to a machined shelf with thousands of lbs of force.

AEBS Sleeves
Darton Sleeves
See any differences? I didn't think so. Dan I love my Darton's!
