Default gsr manifold on b16?

Was wondering if its possible to put a gsr intake manifold on a b16a head? If so what must be done for it to fit properly. My goal is to be able to use the NOS setup made specifically for the gsr manifold which bolts in between the upper and lower parts of the intake manifold. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You will be spending a lot of money. Some of the mounting holes dont line up. Coolant passages will need to be changed, You will need to weld aluminum.

dont ever do that b16a manifold folwa so much better. The dual runner intake manifold was only created for fuel economy.

The manifold has nothing to do with fuel economy. It was designed for low to mid range power, while maintaining good top end power. Don't bother with the GSR manifold, just get a Type R manifold. Besides swapping in the GSR manifold you'll also have to wire up the butterfly solenoid.

Aprreciate the info guys, guess I will keep the b16 manifold and just use a wet kit without the plate, or maybe in the future plumb up some lines and tap out each runner on the b16 manifold for the nitrous nozzles. Thanks again and peace out.

uv already made ur decision... but u can just take out the "butterfly plate" and replace it with the nitrous plate

well you could do this..

Since a GSR snail shell manifold doesn't fit on a B16 head, go GSR/P72 head!
GSR/P72 head will bolt onto a b16a block btw. The only problems you might run into, is clearance problems with the bottom side of the GSR int. manifold hitting coolant lines and things behind the block...maybe...I've never tried this setup, but I know there will be clearance issues. Besides a GSR head will give you more compression for free!

btw - I'm a ***** for GSR heads.

I wonder if the GSR head on a b16 would help out the b16 low end? I know from personal experience it does need help....

well...more compression does bump up torque a bit and with the GSR manifold it might bump it up some more.

Not entirely true

While i agree with you that the B16 and ITR intake manifolds do flow better over all and have better top end performance the GSR dual runner manifold was designed for better low end torque, not fuel economy. Why else would the prelude use the same system? if it was just for efficiency the HX would have it as well as all the other low end Hondas. I would also point out how much BMW and Porche use the same idea on their high end cars. Look at the new 330I and Boxter S.

For a street car i love the GSR manifold although for realy decent performance it should be extrude honed and port matched.

Jason, how'd you get down to 98% with only 191 posts???
That is kinda crazy. All Katman does is spread knowledge upon us!

GSR head bolts up to a B16A block with no problems at all. The coolant lines have plenty of clearance. I will take a GSR head any day over a B16 head also. But if i were you for cost efficiency sake, keep the B16 head, get a ITR manifold, and get that one plummed.
