K i have a lil issue right now with my battery light. Basically the light will stay on once i start the car but if i am in any gear and even just slightly touch the throttle (in motion) the light will go out but if i completely let off the throttle the light comes on but the car remains running and the battery is still charging. At idle i tested around 14.2V and with the car off i tested 12.8V. It doesnt seem to effect the way the car runs but im not sure why this suddenly just came on after i had a cat installed on my car to get rid of the nasty exhaust leak i had.

the only thing that coulda messed up the electrical is when the guy was welding the cat to my exhaust piping but his ground point was close enough to where he was welding that i didnt think that could happen?
Take it to whatever parts store is local to you and have them test the system. Just putting a voltmeter on the battery doesn't tell you much. You need to test how many CCA's the battery is putting out and how the alternator reacts when a load is applied. Most places will test for free, nothing to lose there!

The charging light in the cluster is actually connected to the voltage regulator inside the alternator. So while the whole alternator might not be going bad, it looks like the voltage regulator might be heading south. Have you tried retentioning the belt? You say you just installed it...as in, a 'new' alternator from a place like AutoZone?
