I have an 01 civic lx, and today driving home the battery light started flickering the higher the RPM the faster it flickered untill it went out eventually....then when I get home I tuen the car off then back on it permently stays on unless the RPM's raise and in that case it flickers again.....car has 39k on it the alternator should not be going out and I would think the battery should be fine its only been in the car 4 years.

Check your alt, specifically the tension on the pulley first.

your alt is not charging the way it should ...... once you start the car the battery is not a issue ...

yeah the light is there becasue the battery is not being charger appartently.....thats where the confusion is, why is the light flickering, why did it go off only to come back on once the car was turned off then back on

start the car pull off the negative battery cable if the car dies then it is the alt. but it sounds like an alt. problem to me

take it to adv auto and get the battery and alt. checked out

I had a voltage regulator go out on mine once. Did the same thing because the voltage the alt was putting out was like 9-10 volts for a minute and then a 16-18 volt spike. It sucked. Autozone or Advanced will check the alt and the battery for free though.
