Default Battery disconnect switch

I know this has probably been covered before but I've searched and wasn't able to find what I was looking for.

I've always heard that improper hook-up could cause the alternator to keep everything alive when the motor is running after switching it off. I've made a diagram of the way I think it should be hooked up. Can you guys take a look over it and let me know what you think. It's for my race car....thanks in advance.

yes it will turn the car off when you turn the switch off if you wire it like that.

what worries me about their diagram is that it says 20 amps max for the alternator, i'm sure i would use more then that???

any ideas?

i think the 20 amp rating is dependent on the gauge of the wire they are specifying, in this case 10 gauge. if you're worried about it use something bigger like maybe 8 gauge. i'm almost positive the switch itself can handle more.
