Default battery kill switch wiring???

Ok i relocated my battery to the trunk for more space and i look at the directions for installing the kill switch... It says to connect it to the alternator . I was under the impression that i just cut the power wire to the battery and install the kill switch inline with that. How do u guys have your kill switches hooked up?? Pics will be helpful.

heres what the rulebook says
"Mandatory when battery is relocated or on any vehicle running
9.99 or quicker. An electrical power cutoff switch (one only) must
be installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily
accessible from outside the car body. This cutoff switch must be
connected to the positive side of the electrical system and must
stop all electrical functions, including magneto ignition."

so wire it like the directions say if you want to stay legal..

make sure you hook up the alternaotr charge back wire to the postive side of the battery. Route the positive of the battery to the kill switch, then the kill switch to the your fuse panel. make sure there is no fuse block inline before the kill switch. when you test the kill switch it should shutoff the car rightaway.

which wire from the alternator goes to the kill switch?

Also the directions that came with the kill switch said hook it up to the alternator. They didn't say how.

Anybody got pics??

don't hook it up to the alternator. hook the alternator to the battery. then battery to the kill switch. if you just hook up to the alternator and when you shut it off, the battery would still be running the car. you need to kill all of the power source.

that's why you cut them BOTH off with a four pole switch..

What kind of switch are you running right now?

i'm running a moroso 2 post switch.

So basically run the normal power wire to the car, and a power wire from the alternator to the battery. Then a third power wire from the switch to the battery? What size wire should i use to connect the battery and the alternator? and switch to battery?

disconnect the positive out put from your alternator, and find where the other end of that wire goes to, which should be in the fuse box under the hood. now, connect a wire from the positve output on the alternator to the battery in the rear. another wirte from the positive on the battery to the switch. then the other end of the switch back up front to where you disconnected the wire from the fuse box under the hood.

.....sounds like an excellent way to use a 2 pole kill switch instead of a 4 pole one!

I'm using a two pole switch like the description above. Just think of it as isolating the car from all other power.
