anyone know of a basic program to hook up to a laptop to monitor various sensors and ecu history ? any info would be great my dad wants i for his e39 i'll pay a small amount of money for a burnt copy of a basic scan tool

even if you have the software, youre going to need some way to connect the plug to the computer

 

u can get a separate OBD2 scanner from harborfreight.com pretty cheap..

 

you don't need a scanner all you need is some paperclips and a plug tester. it will flash the code. it doesn't cost anything

 

thats just the codes, he wants some data from the engine sensors
