BAR Tech identifying obd1 block?
I am in the process of building a gsr for 97 hatch and I need it to be state reffed I know that the motor in the car needs to be newer than the body. I have a 98 gsr head but no block yet. I see a ton of obd1 blocks for sale but worried he would be able to identify its an obd1 block from what i know is that the oil pumps are different which I would change as the obd 2 pump has the cfk sensor I need. any other noticeable different he would recognize?
Thanks

96+ Blocks have VINs, but I highly doubt they will notice or care. To be honest, I'd be shocked if they look at the year stamp on the head...
Not sure about B series, but H,F,D and K series in the US have identifying marks on the block indicating which generation engine block it is and this would indicate what general years it is from. For instance, an H22A1 is from a 92-96 Prelude. An H22A4 is from a 97-2000 Prelude. Bar Refs are aware of these numbers on the block and DO use them to identify obd1 and obd2.
