Ball joint problems....... (searched)

OK I can't get this damn thing apart........... I bought a ball joint seperator and shoved it in there and was yanking and pounding with a hammer like crazy and the damn thing would not budge. My ball joint rubber is all ripped apart. any suggestions on seperating these pieces??
there is a diff type of BJ seperator. It has the fork piece and then a lower claw that pushes on the head of the bolt as you turn a screw. That's what i have and use. if you put the nut on the head of the bolt it also keeps it from mushrooming out, or stripping. Once it 'pops', you take off the nut and push it out.
I think I bought it at Autozone or Harbor Frieght tools.
Good luck.

This is exactly what you will need. Bad, news, you probably need a new tie rod end as well as an alignment at this point.

Yes...Throw away the peice of junk tool. It's worthless.
(you are working on an outer tie rod)
Normally, you can hit the steering knuckle where the tie rod is attached (with a good hammer...no claw hammers). It should separate with no problems. If you still cannot get it to separate, you will need to buy the correct tool or rent it (tie rod separator...it's small enough to fit in your hand)_.

are you replacing the tie rod...if so just put the nut back on with your finger till it is flat with the threaded studd...then get a nice 5lb hammer and smack...easy out...and you wont hurt the thread on it also...if you are keeeping it...that will work also...done it many time...just make sure the nut is even flat with the thread...

be careful smacking it, I did that way and mushroom it slightly so I had to use a dremel and grind the bolt back down.
I can tell your problem from the pictures.
Straighten out your wheels so they are not pointing like your gonna turn, this will relieve the pressure holding them together and they they will pop apart with little force. I had this problem and I couldn't figure it out for days, they I just straightened the wheel and bam, came apart.
