LCA ball joint problem

I had the car on stands and I tried to take the castle nut off but the bolt in the ball joint just spins with the castle nut. Do I have to cut the bolt now or what should I do. I don't want to pay Honda or anyone else 2 hours labor for this.

I guess I can try that first as I have access to some C-Clams but not a separator (I would have to buy one and I'm cheap).
