HELP! ball joint nut problems...
I got my axles back in, but I cant tighten the nuts on the ball joints. I can thread the nut about half-way up, then it gets finger tight. When I put a wrench on it, the "bolt" part just spins with the nut. What am I doing wrong? thanks...

ya my mechanic put it all back together and left the cotter pin out, drove it for 10 feet and the whole damn thing fell apart
luckily nothing broke and was fixed in about 5 minutes

Hell yeah. You wont get that **** off with a wrench. Gotta use a impact gun my friend. Good luck with that cause I know how much of a bitch that is. I broke like 8 axels so I know what I am talking about.
Gotta love the craftsmanship of Napa parts.

yes. ive had this happen to me alot(ive replaced like 5 axles in the past 6 months). id use and impact gun but i dont have one, so i get small vice grips and lock onto that **** and tighten it. the only problem is that i have a bad habit of ripping the boot on the balljoint when i do this .

Have you tried using lube of some sort?...WD40 to help it spin a bit cleaner...
I know what it feels like having to sit there and watch the damn ball joint spin with the nut!!!
Sucks *****...That's why I go home to my parents and use my dad's Air tools...

that dosn't work you have to put pressure on the ball joint

BINGO...I tried an impact too...it still spun, RRREEEAAALLL fast lol. For a temp fix, I used Vice grips on it. Worked nice

stand on the brake, grab the fender (or strut bar), and push down on the brake. I had to do this with all my strength, while my friend was going at it with an air gun (i mushroomed the bolt by hammering it) it finally went on and its literally never coming off again (unless i cut it)
an air compressor would be your best friend

<---remembers how much of a bitch those were.
I used an impact gun on the Lude. Just sat the and kept at it until it finally went on. Took about 20 seconds with the impact.
<---now looking for an electric impact gun on ebay.
