Bad distributor?
Well im doing a swap for a buddy and its been one giant headache.
we cant get it started, yesterday there was a spark, but a weak one. now there is no spark comming from the dizzy.
pulled the dist, the rotor and connectors in the cap are charred back, that means its toasts right?
im not sure because ive never dealt with a dist. problem before.

i would just go ahead and change out those components if there is any question as to their being in good shape. if you are going to change cap and rotor you might as well get new wires and plugs.
when you had spark, was that at the wires, plugs or rotor? i ask bc if it was weak at the plugs then, the coil is probably still good if it was weak at the rotor maybe time to change the coil. you should do an internal resistance test on the coil just to be sure its up to par with the specs. good luck.

ya check that b4 u go and start buyin parts. That ground is very important cause it provides ground to the Main Relay and also to the ECU.

Kamin--- Typically when the distributor goes bad, you'll get that redish brownish dust that coats the inside of the cap. I have a bunch of distributor parts if you need then, ignitors, coils, magnet pick-ups, spindles, housings.... The bering goes bad in the spindle and causes that red dust to go everywhere. I've had it happen a couple-a-times. Good luck
Edit: Sounds like you should try the $34 cap and rotor treatment first

I wanna know too.
I wanna know too.
on a bseries, look in the area under the throttle body there should be a fat coolant hose going into it. Its almost like ball shaped, there should be a ground there going from your engine harness, it grounds the mainrelay and ecu.
