Default bad compression test

i just did a compression test and my results are 225,225,225,205. i dont know where to go from here. i have hit water a few times with my cold air intake which caused my car to stall. probably happened like 6 times til i finally put my stock intake back in. could this be the problem? how do i know its hydrolocked or not? thanks. one time, my coolant hose came loose and i ran wit it with the temp on H for like 3 minutes. sigh* where do i go from here?

Well for what you've put that poor motor through it sure is putting out some decent compression numbers.

Normal/Average is about 200psi per cylinder dry. You're well above that on all of them but #4, and it's still within a reasonable percentage.

I'd say those numbers are good if you did a "dry" compression test without putting oil in the cylinders....

dry compression test? can you elaborate? i actually did have a little oil around the cylinders when i opened the spark plug cover. i dunno how it got there but its around cylinder 1 and 2.

The oil around the cylinder holes is from your plug hole seals leaking, it's no biggie, but easy and cheap enough to fix that you should get it done..

To elaborate on "wet" and "dry" compression test...

A wet test is when you add a small amount of oil to the cylinders to increase their seal, which in turn increases your compression reading.

A dry test is when you disconnect your fuel injectors and run the test with no oil down the cylinders. Your numbers with this type of test will typically be a little lower in a healthy engine then with a wet test.

Most times a dry test is used to determine the overall condition of the engine. A wet test is used to pinpoint engine compression leakage from either the rings or the valves. If your numbers increase dramatically with a wet test it's an indication of worn piston rings. Little to no change indicates leaking or bent valves...

ist that the same as a leakdown? i dunno- your compression #s are good, pretty high actually, but the 205 in that one cylindar is kinda low compared to the rest. could be piston ring or something that would be specific to that one cylinder. does it feel like its lost power??

i have felt a small lose in power but then again, i did replace my cai with a stock one. but my engine did rev a little a little rougher it seems and louder too. im guessing my next step is a leakdown test? or should i go ahead and take this biotch apart.
