Default B20b longblock dilema

After dropping a valve about 3 weeks ago. i decided to buy a used b20b long block from a place in NJ. for the start of my b20 small turbo project.

I received in in 3 days and it looks really clean and for some reason it looks to have been taken apart or really well maintained.but that's just a double edge sword

the good:
cam caps have honda bond
rear main seal plate also had HB
the exhaust and intake ports are clean as **** only #3 intake is dirty.
the block looks really clean
timing belt has a little dirt on it but it looks good
no rust
all the bolts were there and not stripped
all sensors are intact

i can see clean pistons through the spark plug hole. it looks like a circle inside a circle, ive never seen a piston like that. also the head gasket looks to have been sprayed with copper

which brings me to my concerns / the bad....

wouldn't the engine have carbon build up specially on the pistons?

the cam marks do not line up and the rear black cover is hitting the cam sprockets. one of the spark plugs was also with out a gap, looked like some one pressed it or the piston touched it.

i am going to change the oil/water pumps and TB from my old engine.
but i don't know if i should set the timing the way it was or if i should set it at spec?
if the head was milled because of an over heating then the timing marks would be set up right.

what would you guys do?

Just redo the timing it sounds like it is off. The piston hitting the spark pluge? If the piston hit the spark pluge everting would be trashed. just re-gap the plugs, b/c they probably just droped them in and one hit on the way down. And the engine's not always going to have carb build up on the piston. Carb build up is from running to rich or pcv system not working right.......

Sounds like you got a good engine. I just do a new timing belt, water pump,....
and re-line the timing.
