It's a poorboy ITR engine.

Compression is a bit low in stock form (9.8:1), but it's a good engine.

Would the B-16 pistons raise the compression or would ITR pistons be better?

Thanks. Does anyone know if people have had problems with this set up.

It's a reliable engine. Yes, B16 pistons will raise compression. Here's a great link.

Putting a P30 Head on a B18C will yield a .2 increase in the compression ratio and is a poor man's type r, but is very reliable (obviously)

If you do this, and with B16 Pistons I forgot the exact CR in the B18C block, but with ITR pistons, you basically have a retarded B18C5 -- unless of course if you get ITR cams, but then just go after CTR cams and get yourself a P&P job, then you have a sleeper and 'incorrectly coded' B18C5 you made

note -- sarcasm in this post, just to disclaim

i think the actual compression ratio drops .4. call race engineering, they can type it in their computer in seconds. its not worth it, keep the C1 head.

del sol block? b16a3? with gsr head you should get around ~.2 more compression, i know you wont have around 10.8! good luck, eric

b18c1 block + b16 head = loss of compression. The b18c1 head has a smaller combustion chamber therefore increases compression. stock comprssion for b18c1 is 10:0:1, so with the b16 head, you lose cr

Is there an echo in here???

Thanks all I think I will pass on the block and just go another direction. How about CTR pistons and Skunk stage 1 cams?

I have this combo, with PR3 pistons, the CR is 11.1:1
With CTR pistons its close to 12:1
Definately upgrade the pistons if you have it apart, its worth every penny you put into it.
