Default B18c-r problems

Hey guys so I got my swap done... Finally! Lol it's a 93
Civic CX with a b18c type r engine and gsr tranny now the problem I'm having is when I start the car it idles good but when I try to drive the car the whloe car shakes and rattles pretty bad and it shuts off occasionally, another thing my tech gauges goes all crazy and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Now to me it sounds like the car is running really lean and that the pump wasn't strong enough since it is from a tiny cx d15b8 but I swap the pump for a walbro 255 and still nothing. Would my ignition timing cause this? Reason why I ask is cause when I got the engine both the rotor and coil weren't on the distributor. I got the rotor and coil and try to put the distributor as close as it was before. I know the type r runs on high octane and I know I don't have high octane on the car I think it's 89 (left over from before the swap) the engine is pretty much stock except for a jdm password intake plm headers and 2 1/2 exhaust. Any ideas on what it could be?

Probably the distributor is damaged if the tach is going crazy. Try getting another one and swapping it. The igniter will cause the tach issue and coils tends to go bad. But swaps can often come with broken or faulty distributors.

Ok. Ill try doing that. Another thing I'm sure I'm gonna have to check my ignition timing but I don't have a timing belt cover. Is there a way to check my ignition timing without it?

The car will still run 95% right if you just set the distributor in the middle, if anything push it back a bit towards the firewall. Should really have the lower cover on the belt too. No covers is a ricer thing.

That's how the motor was when I got it but ill swap the distributor and go from there. I mean the car starts up fine with no problem so I don't think the timing is that bad if anything. Thanks a lot! If I can find a timing cover ill be sure to pick it up.

Hey bro. I got around replacing my ignitor and now the car runs perfect! But my tach is still not working occasionally while driving it will jump a little and come back down, also my speedometer is also not working. But everything else is. My lights, fuel and temp gauges work fine. I already checked my thermostat ground and its fine. You think if my vss sensor is bad it would also effect my tach?

How do you have the tach hooked up? There is a blue service wire on the driver side shock tower, that is the perfered way to hook up a tach. Good luck hope that helps

I don't have an after market tach. I have the sir white face cluster and it was working fine before the swap.

Glad to hear. What kind of igniter did you get, aftermarket or oem?

I got an oem icm but my tach is still not working and my speedometer is also not working. I really doubt is the cluster it was working fine before the swap. The fact that my dizzy is obd2 would have anything to do with it? i have a rywire harness so everything is from obd2 to obd1

Plug in correctly but now it works fine but still no speedometer. I guess I'm gonna have to look for a vss. Thanks for you guys help!

Hey guys I have another question and didn't want to start another post. I'm having some issues with my idle. The car is idling pretty high at about 1500 sometimes a little higher other times lower like at 1000 and sometimes it idles fine at around 800. I check my coolant system and there's no air in the system. I have yet to check my ignition timing and idle air control valve, I'm hoping that's my issues but I'm curious to know if I were to be running rich would that effect my idle, by being high? As a way for for the ECU to compensate the fact that there's too much fuel and not enough air?

Buenas que tal chicos. Tengo pérdida de aceite por el distribuidor, he comprado uno por A4tech y no me arranca el coche con ese distribuidor. Me dice un conocido que solo arranca con el distribuidor original. Gracias!
