car cranks but wont start, died on the road
just did a d15 vtec swap and it went off without a hitch, got it done in about 3 hours, used a civic si tranny (hydro) and a manual p28 computer, with a usdm vx engine harness, and a jdm vtec distributor. anyway it was running fine until all of the sudden it shut off while i was driving, about three weeks after i did the swap. the engine cranks excitedly and everything works electrically in the car, ive got a hot spark and thetiming belt is fine, also the fuel pump is putting out 38 psi and all the injectors ohm out. WTF is going on? ignition? help im frustrated

have you checked the distributor rotor? My car suddenly died while driving and it turns out the set screw on the rotor backed out and screwed the timing up. When I pulled of the distrubutor cap the rotor fell out into my hand

i agree with the rotor, and my hatch sometimes does the same thing, it will just die out of nowere, i usually just remove the negative cable and re-set the ecu and it works fine after that

Check that all your grounds are on tight, Did a clutch on a friends prelude and one ground for the harness was loose and the car did the same as yours is.....tightend the ground and she started right up

thanks for all the ideas guys, the problem was actually the wires and the cap/rotor, the only firing plug wire happened to be the one i used to test spark, the other three were'nt sparking the rotor had broke and the cap was shot, thats what i get for buying a used jdm distibutor from ebay and not changing that stuff right away, i went with the msd cap and an external blaster coil

i was just going to suggest Fuel or Ignition.... if the car will start with starting fluid... its fuel... if it doesn't its ignition

was it just a slow loss of power? mine just slowly lost power, i had it in first and punched and i was slowing down. if so, it's your dist. the exact same thing happened to me. it was getting fuel, just no spark. i could sit and crank all day, but it wouldn't start.
