Default B18C Boring and block gaurds

Someone told me that boring the B18C's cylinder sleeve is a no no because its already thin enough to the point where it'll just crack under extreme conditions, but I told him that thats why you'd want to use a block gaurd. But he says that block guards arn't good for protecting the sleeves from cracking because its just not good, he didn't give me a good reason. So now I'm wondering if this is true. Anybody out there know the truth???

You can safely bore the stock sleeves at least 0.25mm over because Honda sells 0.25mm oversized pistons and rings. Some people go even bigger on stock sleeves, but I can not vouch for the reliability of those motors.
