b18b1 Distributor Swap ??? How To ??
i just bought a 92 honda civic 4 door not sure about the model and the kid that had it before be did a professional b18b1 swap .... the distributor is currently not working so i want to buy the accel distributor off andys auto sport . com and install that or i found a gsr distributor for 100 bucks on ebay but im not sure if it will fit .... my question is to do this the right way and not mess anything up i have to get a timing gun and point the light at the bottom of the crank pully on the back side and i seen guys on youtube were installing them and they just slid it in and adjusted it to the timing and then tightened it down while it was in position ??? is it easy to do a distributor or is there alot more to it ?? im a newbie when it comes to hondas ive always had chevys and this is my first honda so any help or suggestions would be great ...
also , will this one fit i know they advertise it as b16/b18 but i want to double check http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Acura-B16-B18-Gsr-Distributor-/321238501248?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4acb4e8780&vxp=mtr
I'm pretty sure the gsr will not fit, as well as any vtec style distributor. They have different bolt pattern. Any non vtec b series should work, though. If engine is already timed correctly, can just swap out distributors, they have a groove on them that will only attach one way with the cam, meaning if was timed before, it should stil be timed after, as the cam should not have changed. I would still verify with a timing light either way just to sure.
You'll need a 92-95 Integra B18A/B OBD1 distributor. The 96-01 B18B/B20B/z will bolt up but has different connectors and won't plug and play.
