B18 and B20 main caps the same?
Hello H-T,
Well I went through my bagged up bolts and miscellaneous items and noticed that I lost or never got the main caps with my b20b block. I was wondering if I can use the caps from a b18 since they are similar and more readily available? Also are the clearances the same for them? I will be using oem bearings. Thanks.

Yes they are the same, BUT you can't just bolt them down to the block. You have to get the block and main caps line bored. You would have to do this even if you had another b20 main cap set.

Okay so my question is what the heck is line boring? How much would it cost? Where would I find a place to do it?

basically line bore is done in order to ensure roundness of the hole. Bearing caps are machined and matched to the engine they go to. If you swap them to another engine, the hole maybe not be perfectly round, so the maching shop will remove a bit of material, bolt them down, then bore a straight hole. Then your bearings will work fine. Any decent machine shop can do it and tell you how much it costs.

except don't just trust any machine shop to di it because a lot of them will try and line hone it and you do not want that you want a line bore we charge 250 to do it or try other Honda performance shops
