when I am at a stop light, it idles at normal speed and every 15-20 seconds the idle speed drops to the point that it sounds like it will kill the engine. Any ideas what's wrong? Also, have a porblem with the acceleration. When I go to accelerate at any speed, it sputters and there is a slight loss in power. I also have to back off the gas in order to avoid the sputtering. Any ideas on this too?

 

I checked the spark plugs for any damage or carbon build up but nothing was wrong. Anything else I should check?

 

I have a 97 LX(not sure if the lx is the y8) but anyways, mine seemed to do that when i started mine and the cel came on. So I took her down to the shop and replaced new cap/rotor and spark plugs, and that seemed to fix it. Except for one time it started it again and the cel came back on, but i went and got it cleared and it hasnt happend since. Also it seemed like if i ran it to about 4krpm it would clean out and stop missing. He thought maybe my injector was leakin in the #1 cylinder.

Oh the reason why he replace the cap and rotor was because there was like a white chalky residue in the cap.
