Default b16a timing belt

I replaced the water pump and timing belt on my b16. I started the car and it ran like crap. I took it apart made sure cam arrows were pointing up and that the crank pulley arrow was ligned up. Put it back together and it ran worse. What could be the problem ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check the timing. It's particularly easy to screw up if you haven't done many timing belt jobs.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by mdiym13 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">... made sure cam arrows were pointing up...</TD></TR></TABLE>Remember those arrows are only approximate. The REAL timing marks are little dimples out at the teeth of the camshaft sprockets. They line up horizontally. Lay a straightedge across the camshaft centers & line up with that.

Those dimples line up ASSUMING that you've already lined up the crank at cyl. 1 TDC. If your cam gears are lined up and it's still running like crap, both cams may be off in relation to the crank.
