<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by c0wvin &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I have a b16a in my Eg... and i was wondering how would i know if i got jipped off or not...</TD></TR></TABLE>

- see if the B16 engine has a hydro or cable type transmission
- see if the ecu has grey plugs
- see if the distributor & any other plugs on the engine has grey plugs.
(Grey plugs = OBD1)

- If the ecu has black & green plugs = 89-91 OBD
- If the transmission has a cable tranny = 89-91 OBD
- If the wire harness has dirty white distributor plugs = 89-91 OBD

...and its OBD/OBD1 not ODB.
ODB is Wu-Tang related.

not particularly w/ JDM engines.

You can look at the head, right between exhaust port 4 & 3 seen here:

As for the tranny, yes, a Hydro or Cable B-series tranny is compatible with any B-series engine, in fact. With this note, there is a JDM B16A engine that's OBD1 and came with a cable transmission; that would be a JDM 92-93 Integra (XSi/RSi)engine.

yeah, but if it reads 91 it could be obd1 since that # is usually a year earlier than when the car came out.

true..

Oh i forgot something important...
If the head is 92+ check for this '30' near the vtec solenoid area:
(JDM & US heads have this dead-giveaway marking)

does that way tell the engine year of sohc JDM motors? that means that I just got a 91 d15b when I was told it was a 95!

yep, it can apply to SOHC vtec & non-vtec engines as well for reading the year of the head. 91 D15B is more than likely to be a 92, but if you were told it was a 95 you were told wrong....but its still considered an OBD1 92-95 engine theoretically.
