b16 timeing mystery
b16 timing problem
ive got a problem i cant figure out involving timing. i bought a swapped ek hatch and i noticed the previous owner had installed a d series distributor. the car runs good but i thought it was odd so i put a timeing light on it and the timeing is extreamly advanced. you can hardly see the timeing marker its so advanced. so i put a new timeing belt on witch ive done plenty of times before its not new to me, buy a b series dstributor and install it, put a timeing light on it and it shows its perfectly on time. only problem is the car now runs terrible. kinda of odd i thought. so i start trouble shooting. i put the d series distributor back on, advance the timeing like it was before and the car goes back to screaming fast. ive even tryed multiple b series distributors i know are good and no matter what i do it will not run properly when its in time like it should be. has anybody heard or experienced this problem?
