The b18c1 v. b18c5 difference is in design, cams, valve springs, etc. b16a head is the same design as b18c5, but has different LMA's, cams, springs, etc. (not to mention the light P&P job on the b18c5).

From what I understand the B16B has the best flowbench numbers of the three, and the B16B intake cam is abit more aggressive. Can anyone confirm this?

Don't know about the cams, but the flowbench #'s would surprise me since the b16 head is the same as the b18c5, and the b18c5 has a slight P&P job cleaning up the ports. Don't know for sure though.

You'd want to start with the C1 head only if you have a GSR, because the ports/bolt alignment for the intake differ from the B16/C5 heads.

Other than that, [B][IF/B] you're going to spend the money on the head to fit it out with max perf parts (springs, retainers, valves, p&p) then tbe C5 loses it's advantage -- which is that it comes with good perf parts (just listed) and a mild port.

So if you can save some bucks by picking up a b16 head and you're going to push for performance, take the money you save and use it to pay for the parts and port.

This is true, but if you plan in running ITR, CTR, or other fairly large cams, you will also need to upgrade the b16 valve springs and LMA's, so take those prices into account. If you are planning on getting a full P&P, then the advantage of the slight port job on the c5 becomes irrelevant.

That's how I always saw it. P&P on Honda heads isn't as important as valve area work.
