i can't get rid of this gap:

it's a b-series axle.. in a JDM b-16 tranny.
i took the clip off the axle and it STILL won't go in.. i'm stumped.
i have tranny fluid EVERYWHERE.

Looks like the wrong inner joint for that tranny. Are you sure you don't have the left and right mixed up. One will have full splines, and the other will be half splines.

the other side went in just fine. when we swapped motors, the axles stayed and weren't moved, but i'll check the splines just in case. better safe than sorry.
now, which should be on which side??

leave the clip on it, it keeps the damn thing in the tranny... stick the bastard in the hole and tap on the inner joint with a hammer till it goes in... DO NOT HIT THE END OF THE AXLE WITH THE THREADS
oh yea, and dont be a moron and forget to grease up the splines.
BTW you need to change the axle anyway, its leaking.

the clip is on. i guess i should have specified: i took the clip off to see if it would go in further. it didn't. i put the clip back on, then put the axle in.
the axle is greased each time i put it in, and i've tried the hammer/rubber mallet/foot/two people pushing hard method. i'm just stuck.
also: you're saying to change the whole axle out 'cause tranny fluid is coming out of the seal?? riiiiiiiight...

I've had best luck with the rubber mallet.
I have, on occasion, had to hit the axle so hard with it that I thought I was going to break something...
I don't know if it helps, but sometimes I spin the axle a bit, and move it in and out, hoping that the clip is just caught or not seated properly.

Good looking out!
Is it possible that that is caused by the boot not being tightened down on the joint, rather than a cut in the boot?

Settle down...A little greace leaking past the boot doesn't
mean you need a new axle. Why not replace the boot? How about a new boot clamp? You can't even see the boot has a hole in that pic.
And when you start a post with "See, ********", you're not being 'remotely helpful'.

no. the clip is on the axle. i looked inside and nothing was there.
the reason there is CV grease on the tranny is because when i was trying to push like a ***** on the axle to get it in, my hand slipped onto the boot with enough force that i squished a bit of the grease out.
good eye, FastSS. but forgive me for saying you come accross as a dick. a dick that knows his shiznit, though.. i'll give ya that.

to get it back in you need to take apart some suspension pieces (Fork that holds shock on) this way you can make the axle completely horizonal to the hole it comes out of. Once you have the axle completely horizontal it will go in. No force or anything, it will just pop right in. I fought one of these for a day or two, finally pulled out a jack, jacked it up and once it was level with the hole its going it, it went right in.
