Default awd skylines

ok....i understand that they are AWD...BUT...i've seen them do RWD burnouts...is this means the AWD system only kicks in off the launch and then back to RWD while accelerating? ?? somebody explain ...im confused.

the RB26DETT motor (vspec) can be bolted to the RWD RB20DETT skyline GTS tranny, this could be 1 way.

the regular syline is RWD, the GT-R is AWD. Kinda like the next step up, like a mustang GT to a mustang cobra....

I thought they have a split AWD system....like 60/40. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

you are right. when it accelerates the power transfers to the RWD more.

i thought it is more like a smart system ..

rear wheel lost traction .. more power to the front .. and there is a limit to the front ... like .. 40% ...

i know there are system that can cheat the cpu into thinking it got perfect traction and will only operate as a Rwd car ...

i seen it done in vcds

In addition, I thought the AWD system was also computer controlled. And the modified AWD cars would be able to shut off the FWD during burnouts....not sure though, anyone know?

"The GT-R uses an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system (similar to Porsche's 959). A 16-bit microprocessor monitors the car's movements a 100 times per second, including wheel rotation and lateral as well as longitudinal acceleration." "... it can adjust the front/rear torque-split from anything between 0:100 to 50:50." http://www.jbskyline.net/R32/GTR/index2.html

the early skylines are RWD (R32) the newer R33 and R34(DROOOL) are AWD.
kris
According to this website the R32 is AWD...it could be wrong. http://www.jbskyline.net/R32/GTR/index2.html

It uses a computer controlled system.

Check the video review (I know the site is slow) : http://w1.movies.taner.net/topgear

there is a fuse controlling the AWD. somepeople with skylines have a setup to switch off the fuse for RWD, then turn it back on for AWD. this is what i've heard and what i've seen. so maybe this helps.

It's called DRAG START..

It's an after market switch that disables the awd system for burnouts. On the GTR's and some of the other ATTESSA AWD cars the drivetrain will transfers more power to the rear wheels as wheel speed increases. AWD is mainly used for takeoff and poor traction situations. ATTESSA is the computer system that controls AWD Nissans.

I don't want a Skyline!! Espacially after watching an 600hp GTR get embarrassed royally by a Syclone at the street illegals in Tokyo and then again by a Turbo CTR at the circuit. An AWD SR20DET Pulsar GTiR with the upgraded NISMO tranny and a Turbo upgrade will destroy the overweight GTR any day of the week and for thousands of dineros less.

Mark Accord.. The RB20(and RB25) is a DET and not a DETT. The GTR's RB engine is the only twin turbo inline 6 while the 300ZX's V-6 VG30DETT is the other DETT engine.

Just FYI, I'm helping a friend of mine put an RB26DETT into an S14 240Z. It's from an R33 GTR. We didn't want to bother with AWD because the 240 wasn't originally setup for it, but since all the Nissan RWD trannies use the same input shaft, we started experimenting. What was basically found out was that we can take the bellhousing off the GTR AWD trans and bolt it to a RWD VG30DETT trans and have a tranny that will not only bolt to the RB26DETT, but also be RWD, and be more easily fit into the 240Z body. Now we're probably going to have a custom oil pan made, though, because we want to get rid of the front diff in the oil pan.
later,
Jared

a 1300kg 600hp GTR is no match for a 830kg 450hp CTR on a mid sized track. GTR got the holeshot but the CTR passed him on the 4th turn with ease and then never looked back!
