Default Auto to Man. conversion issue

Hi guys,
A friend of mines did this swap, and he is using a manual p30 ecu(eg6). What he finds is that it is very lazy low down, below 6g. Pulls stong after that. Now he had this swap in previously, and the car use to pull strong throughout the power band. but the car was stolen and completely stripped. Everthing was re-done but he is now getting this problem with the new ecu.

Any suggestions?

So if the car was completly stripped, is this a new motor/tranny? Or did he later decide to just swap it to a manual and put in the manual tranny and such. It could be one of the grounds on the tranny is loose. Or maybe the timing is off, and yeah are u getting a check engine light? any codes?

Suprisingly they left the motor and tranny in the car, but they took the engine harness. He got it re-wired with a new harness. That ground issue could be a possibility.

He did get a code 21(vtec solenoid) the wire came loose. It was repaired but it is still pulling lazy low down.

The vteec code shouldn't be hurting ur low end.. hmm.. Have u ever checked ur spark plugs, timing? Could be unrelated to the auto/manual conversion.

Ok he got another code 1. o2 sensor. Someone told him that the D position on the auto tranny selector, has a wire that has to be looped with a relay to fool the ecu into thinking it is in drive? Has anyone ever heard about this?

Theres the problem! The o2 sensor code is ganna make the car feal real sluggish. Fix the o2 sensor code and the car should be MUCH funner and better to drive. And about the ecu drive thing no the car just has to think it's in park to be able to start, after that ur good. It's just the relay that needs to think it's in park to allow power to the starter, the ecu could care less cause it's for a manual.

Thanks Jason.

I spoke to him a short while ago. He said he wasn't getting the ck eng. light anymore. I told him to still see if he is getting any codes when he gets home. I'm awaiting his call. Will keep you posted.

Ok I just spoke to him. Heisn't getting any codes. But on his way home the car pulled strong throughout the powerband for a while, then just b4 he reached home it started the laziness again.
I told him when he goes bt the auto electrician tomorrow, let him run through all the grounds to see if one is loose.

Strange why he got the code for the o2 sensor and now isn't getting it, unless he keeps resetting the ecu. Try running the car when it's completly cold as the o2 will be in open loop, when the vehicle gets warm it goes into closed loop, meaning the car doesn't actually use the o2 sensor till the engine's warm.
