If you buy a gsr ecu, it'll plug right in and give you better highend fuel and timing values. Basically it would be a chip. You can usually find it cheaper than a vafc, and you wouldnt have to tune it.

It would be called a GSR ECU.......

The problem with that is that you don't tune it. It is one setting. If you save for the VAFC. then you can tune it yourself and also once you add other things like cams and stuff you can retune instead of having to get a chipped ECU.

Also, you can adjust the Crossover point with the VAFC while on the GSR ECU you cannot.

Exactly what Spade said. You can actually tune with the VAFC unlike with the GSR ECU. The you have to deal with bypassing things like the KS and other **** like that. Depending on the year of ur car whether it is OBD 1 or OBD 2 for the SOHC VTEC motor. If it is the OBD 1 P28 I like that ECU the best because of the limited number of parameters. It works nicely when chipped with a VAFC on any of the bigger VTEC motors (GSR, CRVTEC).... You have to remember tho on a SOHC motor the VAFC is not going to do a whole hell of a lot. If you really want to tune power out you need to be working with a motor that's A/F ratio needs to be set, then you'll notice the difference... Have fun!!!!!!!

does the jumper cable have the same color codes as the regular cable? Also would I use a manual for the 96-00 ecu or the 92-95 ecu?

Just tap into ur main wiring harness, not the convertor and use the 96-00 manual.
