apex v-afc reading tach wrong
i recently installed the v-afc (about 2 hours ago), did all the initialization parts, started the car, everything monitored fine. the dash tach said the same as the v-afc tach. now after shuttin down and restarting, the v-afc tach is off and off by a good amount.
at idle, the v-afc states 450; dash states 600
4th gear, dash 3k; v-afc 1900
what could be the problem? i didnt change anything yet; but say i did and wanted to go back to factory settings, i would just go to 'etc.' and 'initialization' and say 'yes' right?
thanks again

yes to resetting ur settings. As far as ur tach reading be so far off. You start ur car n check the settings when u see that ur tach and the afc's tach dont match. Go to settings and see if u have the correct 6 in 6 out i believe for ur car (just check the manual that comes with it) If this is ok make sure that its set to 4 cyl. and then make sure that its hooked up properly. You might have a bad connection or a wrong connection somewhere. Just be thourough with everything. HTH
I bet you have the rpm wire that supposed to be hooked up to an ignition wire on the ecu hooked up to the speed sensor instead.
Normal. Every vafc doesnt match the stock tach. Neither does an Autometer tach. Stock one sucks.
Try monitering VTi and rpm. Check what rpm the ecu turns it on. Itll be close to where it should be.

so which is more accurate then?
i noticed that when my car was at 8000 RPM on the tach, my V-AFC registered 7660... i started going by tthe VAFC since its plugged directly into the ECU, so which is accurate?

I usually go with the stock tach for every day usage. My vafc is stashed to prevent its theft, but when Im tuning it (with the *** dyno) I use the vafc tach. As long as you have consistency, it really doesnt matter, they're not that far apart.
