Default Antenna replacement

Hey guys I gots a rather simple question for you.
How do you replace an antenna in a 88 hatch?? Do you yank out all the way down to the stereo?? Or melt the soder & replace?? Or can you Cut & Splice the wire w/ a crimp and heat shrink??
While back ago someone was a jackass and bent my antenna, now I must adjust it by stickin my hand out of my window!! Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Replace the whole ant, mast and ant. lead, [all one piece]

What is the MM&Y of the car, "88 hatch" does not help a lot?

If you mean an 88 Honda Civic hatchback then you will need to unplug the ant. from the back of the HU, pull the lead over to the drivers kick panel, remove the two (2) screws holding the mast in place at the top of the drivers A pillar, pull the mast out far enough to get good access to the ant, lead, [connected to the top of the mast housing] cut the ant lead off the mast housing and pull the mast housing all the way out.

You can get a new ant. at most car audio shops, or maybe hit up your local Pick n Pull or other bone yard, you can even pay through the nose and get an OEM one.

To install the new ant., shove the tip of the ant. plug into the center of the cut ant. lead, [a little electrical tape] and carefully pull the old ant. lead out through the kick panel hole, pulling the new lead along with it, be careful not to snag the lead and pull it out of the new lead, gently pull it back and forth to get by any obstruction, at some point, [before you pull the ant. lead all the way through] you will have to insert the mast housing into the mounting hole and slide it in as you pull on the ant. lead.
Install mounting screws and plug ant. lead into HU, your done. 94 94
