Another Smog Question
Ok sowhen you guys go to the state and get your bar sticker? IE: legal swap. Do they hook the smog machine up the diagnostic port under the dash for obd2 cars?
First off, go by any smog check station and ask how to contact a Referee. Ask for the location and go by there to "casually" talk to the referee in person before setting up an appointment. Keep in mind that if he is busy, you shouldn't bother him.
The idea here is to set up a good relationship with the guy (In going through this, think of him as God) and see if there is anything that you can do to simplify the process.
Have ALL reciepts for the swapped items. Have all smog items hooked up and working. Remove anything that may be questionable (like an air intake that doesn't have a CARB number specific to the engine).
Set up an appointment and go in. I believe that you have to call in to set up the appointment.
Count on the Referee checking EVERYTHING! If there is a hook up to the ECU, plan on the Referee checking it. The Referee does this stuff for a living and knows what to look for. In other words, don't try to sneek anything past them.
