Default Alternator Replacement - Stripped Threads

Honda service technician reported the threads in the engine's head for the lower bolt of the alternator stripped during 'removal'. I have talked to several mechanics and machinist and all say threads in alumimum is soft but will NOT strip during removal. It more then likely occurred while reinstalling, either by cross-threading or over torqueing.

Has anyone else experienced threads stripping during removal?

Thanks!

But I'm sure the damage was actually done by overtightening when installing. Then it just hung together until I tried to remove it.

You should just be able to use a helicoil to fix the stripped threads.
