Hello,
I have a '96 JDM ITR motor and I'm currently rebuilding the alternator and ran into an issue. I ordered a new bearing for it because mine sounds like a bird under the hood so the bearing has to get replaced. I looked up online the bearing for the 00-01 ITR USDM alternator thinking it is the same but obviously its not. I have listed below the differences of the bearing size and the difference of 1-2mm makes a huge difference when it comes to bearing sizes. Pictures included. The shaft wobbles in the new bearing with way to much room and the new bearing won't even get close to seating properly into the casing to press it in. Has anyone replaced this before and do they know the proper part number for the bearing needed.
Was planning on doing that but then also found out the brush set assembly is completely different than the usdm version. Basically have to mangle the brush housing to get it to fit. So I said f it and went to get a remanned one from Autozone.... But on another note any usdm Honda or acura alternators are very easy to rebuild and its only about $40 for the parts versus +$120 at the parts store.
