All my problems in one thread!!!!!
OK guys, i've been having all sorts of problems so i am just gonna put them all in this one big thread. Sorry its so long, just PLEASE read it and PLEASE give me any kind of advice.
Background info is its a 1994 civic dx with jdm gsr and type r tranny running skunk2 p28. Car was an auto and was converted to standard.
I) Idling problem:
I found a vaccum hose that wasnt on so that fixed the 3k rpm start up. Now once it warms up it surges in between 1500 and 600 rpms. I recently got my battery and alternator tested and results are my alternator is not sending the correct number of amps, so i plan to replace that soon. Just tonight, the rpms started to drop really low like to 400-500 rpms which made my headlights and interior lights dem every time they went low. Then when i got home, i noticed my left headlight went out. And lately when i go to start the car and it will do the initial rev start up like every other normal car but like half a second later the rpms will go down to like 200rpms and i will have to rev the car to keep it running but after about 2 seconds of me keeping the revs up i can let off and it will stay running. Another thing....if i barely BARELY tap the gas pedal the rpms drop some rpms for a second then rev back up (and no i'm not letting up on the clutch when this is happening, its when clutch is fully depressed or tranny is in neutral).
Things i have tried to fix the idle:
1. Tighten FITV (maybe its just broken?)
2. Sprayed the IACV with carb cleaner (sprayed the whole inside that attaches to the intake manifold) (maybe its broken also?)
3. Sprayed carb cleaner everywhere looking for vac leaks to see if that makes the engine drop in rpms.
4. Bled the coulant through bleed valve (when i did this it never did actually create a constant stream of fluid...there seemed to always be air in there i was getting down to low coolant so i gave up)
II) Rough transmission
Recently i changed the seal that is on the backside of the transmission where the shift linkage connects to the tranny because it was causes my tranny to leak fluid. Ever since then it seems like some of my gears are harder to get into when just shifting through the gears from a stop. I also have to rev match perfect when i downshift for it even to go in smooth. But just going through the gears when normal daily driving shifting at like 3k everything is smooth. Its hard to get into first sometimes, i have to clutch out then clutch back in for it to go in. Same thing for reverse. I do the 2nd to first thing and the 3rd, 4th or 5th to reverse thing but it still doesn't work sometimes. The fluid level is fine too and i used acura mtf (i hope thats the same thing as honda).
III) This may sound weird and it may be nothin, but i am just paranoid. Today i was just checking the plug wires and one of the plugs i can feel the piston hitting it by just putting my hand on the part that covers the plug wholes on top of the block, but all the others i can't. They are NGK plugs and wires. Let me know if that sounds dumb or needs to be explained better.
SO, things i plan to do is.....
1) Of course get a new alternator. But is that gonna help out any of my problems?
2) Probably gonna get a skunk2 intake manifold and change all my gaskets around there. Does the skunk2 get rid of my FITV?
3) Gonna be getting a compression test and leakdown test soon.
4) Get a new clutch
5) oil change
6) Maybe new honda plug wires and ngk spark plugs (if i should even be worried about that problem).
Last but not least...What do ya'll suggest i fix/replace/try? ANY information is appreciated.
