I need to know if I can use an altnernator off a d series with a b18a motor. I know they use the same plugs and the civic is about 10 less amps. Is there any difference in the way they bolt up??????

depends which d-series youre talkin about, from a D15 to a D16Y8.... lets see..... B18A, 90-93 teg ls..... id try one off of a 92-95 civic dx (id really use one off of a B18A). just my .02

Older civics at the junkyards are a dime a dozen, and an alternator would be practically free with a guarantee. If I actually have to buy one though of course ill just get the integra. Thanks for the info though!

 

ive used my crx alternator w the b18a, it works fine but the only thing is that the d alt have less teeth on the pulley, so you'll have the belt wearing out quick. but it worked fine on my car till i got a cheap b16 alternator. works good.

anyway my first hand experience is that a d series dosent fit on my b16, i tried the one off my d16z6 on my second gen b16 and it didnt work, even a del sol vtec (b16a3 engine) alternator didnt work, i had to use a GSR.

 

YES THE D-SERIES WILL FIT.... i just put a zc single cam alternator on my LS motor.. the upper bracket holes wont line up but the lower will fine... just get creative and it works fine... and you have to use the d series belt.

 

hmm...... sounds dangerous to me, id be afraid about getting stranded in BFE when the jerry-rig goes.
