Default Air filter?

The questions I have are,

Are K&N filters the best?
Are the K&N look alikes the same, like the ones you find on DC sports/AEM andskunk2 or are they just red to look like a K&N fliter?

Thanks in advance!

Everyone thinks their filters are the best, and in reality they're probably all very similar.
I had a K&N and it worked very well, now I have a new intake and it works even better but it's not a K&N filter on the end.

So what kind of filter is it, and is it the filter or the intake that is better?

I believe it is both. The K&N was simply a filter replacement that attached to the end of my stock intake rubber hose (cone style), the new one I have is weapon*r dragon intake(of course) and there is the straighter, smoother intake pipe replacing the rubber hose.
If I ran the car without the filter at all, just the tube or hose, I can't get much if any more throttle response out of the car. As far as which filter is more restrictive - I think they are both the same, supplying as much air as my car wants.

So your old K&N filter wasn't a cone style filter, it was a stock replacement filter?
