foam. i remember watching this video where they were testing the different types of filters from different companies. the foam one's did better.

good question. but then that kinda goes the same way for the paper filter too huh?

Foam filters usually (not always) flow the best, but don't filter as well as a paper filter usually does.

K&N-type cotton gauze & wire mesh filters are usually the best compromise. Like a foam filter, they can be cleaned and re-used.

Just keep your fender liner and you won't have to worry about it getting soaked . . .

BTW, take those filter tests with a grain of salt and ignore the horsepower for the most part. In the first test, the Apexi filter did flow better than the K&N, but keep in mind that the Apexi is expensive and not clean-able, so you'd have to fork out some cash to replace it every so often (don't buy Apexi's claim that it is a "lifetime" filter). It is also a dry-type filter, which is more of a concern around water than an oiled filter is.

does k&n come with a 2.5 inch inlet? isint it always 3 inch.

k&n actually makes allot of difference sizes. i've seen a k&n filter for a moped.
