Air Conditioning controls wiring
Hi everyone.
Trying to find out if anyone knows how I can disable the auto air conditioner on function when the interior controls are set to defrost for a 2001 Civic sedan. I realize that the air conditioner will help remove humidity and remove window fogging but I would like to turn it on only when I need it. I don't like wasting power and fuel to keep my window thawed in winter. Or at least remove that function for the floor/defrost combo position.
Thanks

If it's cold (below maybe 0.C??) the AC compressor doesn't clutch in anyway, even when the AC light is on.
Our '98 Accord you can just hit the AC button & turn it back off. That's only a bit annoying.
Our '03 Accord the AC comes on with defrost, but the AC light doesn't come on, & you can't turn it off. That's really annoying.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the delayed response from me.
Makes sense that the compressor wouldn't kick in unless it's warm enough outside. But I still don't want to have to have the AC come on when it is warm enough outside when I have the controls set to the windshield. I'm thinking that there is either an extra wire on the control switch that will activate the AC or there's a wire somewhere else but don't know where.
I tried to pull off the plastic shroud that houses the controls and the stereo but it wouldn't budge. Wanted to take a look at the controls but didn't want to break anything. Normally these shrouds are just snapped in with some clips. Any idea on the best way to remove it without damaging anything?
