AEM EMS and obd2.2: possible to program the ignition key chip lockout feature?
One thing I don't like about hondata on some of the newer honda's ('00+) is the fact that you have to convert to obd1 and this effectively loses the chip in the key immobilizer.
In other words, it removes the relatively simplistic (and easily bypassed) anti-theft feature. But, I'd still like to keep this feature AND make more power.
Now, doesn't the aem ems require a conversion to obd1? If so, then it also loses this immobilizer feature.
BUT, doesn't it have programmable pinouts? Can't you program one of these to emulate the factory immobilizer?

I would recommend loggin to aempower.com and go into their formus and ask this question.
But to answer your question, I believe is no; You don't have to convert to OBD1. The EMS is a great unit better than the Hondata. plus, it's plug and play no conversion harness to buy at all.
But far as the immobilizer unit, the AEM EMS will disable that as well.

thats correct. we've already discussed it on the aem forum. the immobilizer circuit is gone. there would be no straightforward way for them to manually add this feature for every car that has it, since its unique to each car. what i mean is the ems does not have the hardware to support it.

.....that sucks.
But it sounds like someone with a little ingenuity might be able to come up with a workaround for say... '00-'01 integra's?
Got any links to those threads?

i would suggest reading up on the http://www.pgmfi.org forums -there is much more discussion about the immobilizer circuitry over there.
