Default AEM EMS not recieving power?!?

I purchased a used EMS on Honda-Tech, however when it arrived the factory seals had been broken and when I plug it into the harness on the car, it does not power up. The car fires just fine with the factory ECU. When the ignition is turned on with the EMS plugged in, the fuel pump does not prime, nor am I able to connect via the serial cable. The screen shows "querying ECU" but the progress bar does not move and in red at the bottom it flashes red "ECU Offline". I am positive the cable is good, it transferrs data from my LM1 perfectly. None of the pins on the EMS are bent, broken, or missing. If someone from AEM tech support reads this, the EMS serial # is 1000-0012. I will be calling tomorrow.

Is there a process I am missing? I have gone word for word by the user manual 2.0 .pdf file....

Did I get ripped off???????????

You probably got ripped off.

The AEM rep will be a dick on the phone, but he'll reluctantly agree to look at it for $50. You'll have to ship it to him and they'll ship it back at their cost.

Mine had a bad coil driver, just like I told the rep (but he wouldn't believe me).
