aem ems questions...
ok, i had another topic up about this, but it has disappeared, so i'll go ahead and start another. i have a cable that goes from the ems to a laptop....but the connection is not the same for my computer. is the ems vista compatible? my computer has a vga type output, and the ems has a similar output, but with less pins...is there an adapter i could buy to make it work?
ive found the adapter cables...but what would the drivers be for? and is the ems compatible for vista? i read on a site, maybe off aem, all the compatible systems, and vista wasnt listed.
It works with vista fine. I had a problem with an older usb to serial jack that wasnt compatable with vista so I went to radioshack and got a new one that works with vista. Just install the harware and hook everything up, open aem pro and make sure serial has a dot next to it and not USB. If you have any problems let me know.
so they have that adapter at radio shack? how much did they cost? if theyre cheap, i'll just go pick one up. i downloaded aem pro v1.0 off the internet, as i wasnt given any software with the ems. is this correct? thanks for the help guys.
If you have problems, you should take your car to a tuner that is familliar with aem ems.

hmmmm.....id hate to sound like a complete a-hole....but 30 bux is a lot for a guy living off unemployment at the moment....cuz i really just wanna look at my a/f ratios....but i saw these adapters for around 5-6 bux on ebay...is the markup at radio shack that much???
im just gonna bump this up for the moment....i dont have the cable yet, but i know when i hook this to my car im gonna have questions, and i dont want the topic to disappear like the last one....
OK.
IT will work fine with Vista. You get a serial to usb adaptor, anywhere that sells them (computer stores, radio shack etc..), install the software FIRST. Than follow these steps...
1. plug usb cable that came with your EMS, to the serial to usb adaptor.. You now have a 'serial to usb' cable.
2. usb into your computer
3. serial into your EMS (DO NOT HAVE EMS POWERED UP!!!)
4. open AEM PRO
5. work offline
6. go to ECU/Connection Port/than select 'usb to serial' in pulldown menu.
7. Keep it on SERIAL, to not click over to USB. KEEP SERIAL
8. go to ECU/Connect
9. Ignition NOT ON, its waiting.. Than while its trying to connect, key up to II and it should than connect.
Goodluck.
I use vista, with a serial/usb on my dsm works fine.

WOW, GREAT VID!!! thanks for the help guys...so just to be ok, when i purchase this adapter, i need a software disc as well? the ones on ebay dont offer that from what ive seen, maybe i am better off at radio shack. i really only want the digital tach there, so i can read my AFR's....my wideband is plugged into the ecu....i just want to see if its working properly, and if it is, i want to see what AFR's its giving out. i do not want to mess with any settings in it though....is there anything i should avoid when getting in this? i really appreciate all the help so far!
