Default Exhaust craziness.

Whats the biggest size of pipe i can/should go on my car? I want to put 2 1/2 or 3 inch pipe under her, but would that be too big? I don't want 2 inch, because thats what a cheap muffler shop put on my car. Cut off the factory stuff (which i believ is 2 1/4 inch) about 6 inches from the converter and ran that 2 inch bottleneck crap all the way back, and the car doesn't pull as hard in the higher revs anymore. Do i have to worry about an airflow issue with 3 inch, because in my twisted mind, i think if i ran 3 inch, it would help counteract the bends in the rear portion of the exhaust. InPuTs or constructive criticism would be cool.

2 1/4 - 2 1/2 is good for NA engines. Dont go any bigger unless you go high HP. Just IMO

If you go too big, then exhaust gas velocity will be too low. That means you will lose tq.

Hopefully around 2-250 hp eventually. Right now its "160" hp. I was leaning more toward 2 1/2 than 3 inch in reality.

Wouldn't a header improve linear flow thru the exhaust versus the stock header style manifold? Like a long tube 4 into 1?
