AEM EMS & Boost controller?
For those who have the AEM EMS... is it possible to retain the use of a electronic boost controller at the same time with the AEM EMS? I'd like to retain my AVC-R when I get the EMS--it's so easy to adjust boost on the fly that way. I think the EMS has built-in boost control, but I'd still like to use AVC-R. Any ideas?
You can leave the boost controller in, No problem at all. Just don't hook up the boost solenoid on the EMS. If you don't have boost control enabled, it doesn't care how so much pressure got in the engine. It just puts in the fuel and spark for that level of boost.
So basically then the EMS built-in boost control functions to do what the AVC-R then?
Right now I have the AVC-R spliced into the harness that goes into the ECU. Would I be correct in assuming that I leave the splices as they are now, swap out the Honda ECU for the EMS, and then the AVC-R will continue to do its job controlling boost?
