Default Acura Safety Mode - Check Engine Light

I have a stock 98 GSR. Couple Nights ago I was running it pretty hard and the check engine lamp came on. Next day I drove my car, I couldn't go past 5000rpm's. I tried resetting the ECU but the Check Lamp came back on. I spoke with some guys from the dealership, and they said it could be the Fuel Filter and that the intake flow needed to be adjusted. Also they said that the Check Engine Lamp could only be reset by computer. Is there a way to reset it without using a computer? Do you have any idea what happened? I suspected the gas. I put in Shell 91, but I usually use 76 or mobil. Now I can rev over 5000rpm's again but the check engine lamp is still on.

Go to a good local Automotive store. Most will do OBD2 checks for free and clear the codes for you. Whomever you went to was talking out their *** to you. You can't tell by an engine light that your having a fuel supply problem. The ECU goes into "LIMP"mode and will not let you go any higher so that your engine, if experiencing a serious problem, doesn't go KA-BOMB. Have fun
